Maddie Ade is a multi-media contemporary artist whose current practice aims to capture the essence of time through various hyper-specific scenes. She explores the idea of impermanence and how it plays into the human experience.

Ade speaks about art as an entity that will long outlive us, and how we can connect ourselves to the past, present, and future all at once through art. She believes that art in itself allows for connectivity. Ade argues this is a major factor in what evokes thought, feeling, and emotion when viewing art. It is relatable, as if someone had taken a snapshot of your mind. Or pulled a memory right out of your head and onto paper. We, as humans, all share similar lived experiences, mundane as they might be. This is in part what Ade’s work aims to capture. Her studio practice relies heavily on collage materials and various types of paper. She feels that the ability to piece together images to create a larger scene says a lot about shared experiences and collective memory.
